The implementation of the Master Development Plan for SPRB started on October, last year with the incorporation of two GOTWALD brand, type G HMK 6407 mobile cranes of 5th generation with a capacity of 100 tons each and with a boom of 51 meters, that allows to service vessels of all sizes in an efficient manner, including Panamax – type container ships.
With this equipment we seek to increase productivity of operations between 30 to 40 movements of containers per hour, thus reducing substantially the time of stay of container ships in the port, this means lower costs for the users and an increased capacity for SPRB.
For the containers’ sub-terminal the arrival of 8 straddle carriers, or overhead cranes are going to help increase substantially the levels of efficiency of the Terminal. Obtaining rates in the operation of 30 movements per hour. With their implementation, less equipment will be required. Giving a result of smaller cost and flow congestion by the routes.
Additionally, we shall extend the container – storage zone integrating all current areas into one large yard, as well as the fitting of some zones for the consolidation and deconsolidation of cargo, repairs to containers and the storage of refrigerated containers, amongst others.
